In most modern Gang Shows those taking part are reminded to 'have a bath' 'change their underclothes';'brush their teeth;'use a deodorant';'stuff packs of 'Odour Eaters' in their plimsolls' etc,etc,etc.The condition known as 'Dhobies Itch' which was associated with sharing clothes and costumes in Boy Scout Gang Shows and Boy Scout Troop Shows,which included gym shorts,underpants,panties,knickers etc,was very prevalent particularly in the 1950's and 1960's;(60 cases in 1958).The Treatment at that time required the Boy Scout sufferer to sit in a bowl of water that had had Permanganate of Potash added.This was required to be done at last three times a day.The effect of turning the effected 'skin area ' a certain 'very deep purple colour' was known in 'Scouting Circles' as 'Beetroot Balls'.Needless to say for any 'modern day sufferer' there are now creams and powders.Back then a sufferer could always be reminded at 'Camp Fire' when Patrols were 'highly creative' in making up verses of 'those' from other Patrols who had 'a little secret....'Dr.Stu..
