GS2012
2012 will see the 80th anniversary of Gang Show, so therefore to celebrate this momentous mark, and in memory of Mr Gang Show himself, Ralph Reader, I plan to produce a 'one off special' Gang Show which will be made up of a cast selected from every Gang Show both in the North West & those connected to NORWEGS. (North West association of Gang Shows)
The show will be performed in a theatre, possibly somewhere in or around the Manchester area, on a Saturday, and there will be both a matinee & evening performance.
PROGRAMME in BRIEF!
The show will open with an appropriate upbeat modern style in your face item to start the show with a bang.
The first half will then consist of items taking us through the various parts of Ralph from his beginnings in the West End, to his love for Scouting, then onto the war years and the RAF Gang Shows, and then onto the GS phenomenon where we will then close the first half with the exact replica of the full length version of 'Crest' which Ralph did in London GS. In between items it will be narrated through during the show, and despite it going back to the olden days, I am hoping we can slightly modernise the music so it has a modern day feel but remembering/commemorating the past.
The second half will be a modern upbeat GS, which will show how GS has evolved into the present day and is now modernised to take on current professional productions. Which for those who have read Ralph’s autobiography will recall Ralph stating, ‘a Gang Show has to be as good as a professional production to get the public to come see it’. It will have modern day music/songs, sketches, and dance routines.
What i am trying to aquire
1. A copy of the original Gang Show film on DVD format if poss.
2. Any footage of Ralph doing interviews, this is your life, london gang show, RAF gang show, etc, on DVD format if poss.
3. Any footage of any gang shows doing ralph or GS tribute items or shows, on DVD format if poss.
i need them to be on DVD format as i'm going to project a film sequence put together by myself using professional film editing software, to use during one of the 2nd half items.
if anyone is able to help or point me in the right direction, i'd be hugely thankfull.
