Not all those in the Boy Scout Movement who started their own Gang Shows had infact seen one. Most had not but like all in Scouting it was possible to put 'Something On' which may not be anything like the 'London Gang Shows' but it was a 'Troop Show' and if Ralph was unhappy about changes to his Scripts and Songs well our 'Boy Scout Troop' meets in a Scout Hut Somewhere in the 'Wilds of Wessex' and Ralph or his 'Agents' would never come this far from 'The Metropolis' ? Would He ? The answer was 'Yes he Would' and 'Yes he Did'.Ralph used both a legal and a moral argument when trying to 'protect his creations'.He did give his Scripts,Songs,Materials for use by Boy Scout Performers in their Troop Shows, but he did expect to have his Work respected. The 1930's saw a range of Boy Scout Gang Show and Boy Scout Troop Show Scripts,Songs and Sketches by other Authors, some associated with Gang Shows other than in London. The Glasgow Company of 'Brown,Son and Ferguson Ltd' Published a range of 'suitable material' as did 'The British Drama League','The Village Drama Society','Samuel French','The Faith Press','J Curwen & Sons Ltd and The Boy Scouts Association that Published Ralphs material. In an interview published in The Sunday Times on the eve of the last London Gang Show in 1974,Ralph alluded to the fact that in 1968 there had been quite 'vehement' protests against Boy Scouts dressing as "Little Girls".the reasons were always Psychosexual in that it might give rise to Transvestite or Transexual Behaviour or Personality.Whatever gives rise to these "Life Style Choice" Behaviours is nothing to do with Gang Shows or Boy Scouts or Scouts playing a range of "Girl" Characters. What at one time was part of the uniqueness of Gang show became its most unexceptable Characteristic and "Little Girls" became like the 'Outlaws' of the 'Wild West End' liable to be 'Shot on Sight'.Dr.Stu..
