The Grimsby Gang Show was first Broadcast by the BBC from a Recording in 1960.Grimsby had started their Gang Shows in 1956 under the Direction of Probation Officer Ken Hodson.In 1961 the BBC Broadcast was far more elaborate affair which was Broadcast Live at Peak Time on a Saturday Evening.The Show was Produced for the BBC by Trevor Hill who at the time was 'Childrens Hour' organisor for the BBC North Region.Mr Hill also provided 'a running commentary' when the boy scouts were not singing in his rather 'plumby' BBC voice.There was also a Recorded Message from Ralph who at that time was 'at the helm' of The London Gang Show.As far as the technical part of the operation was concerned the BBC had arrived at the Theatre Royal in Cleethorpes on the previous Thursday so that they could set up michrophones to obtain the best sound scanning and in the end they used no less than twelve michrophones.The Show was relayed by Land Line to Broadcasting House in Leeds from where it 'went on air'.In 1964 the BBC again Broadcast the Grimsby Gang Show as part of 'Home This Afternoon' a magazine Programme Broadcast on the BBC Home Service.The Programme also included interveiws with 'Members of the Gang'.Grimsby followed the practice of many Provincial Gang Shows and more or less Performed the previous years London Gang Show.Grimsby at the time held the record for having the largest number of Broadcasts for a Provisional Gang Show.Dr.Stu..
