I should have known that there would be something on the www about a time in my life, an experience in my life that has lastest for many years.

Somewhere around here are Pittsburgh Gang Show neack bandana...and a sigbed copy of Mr. Reader's 1957 book. Delightful memories...as "Crest of a Wave" has played over and over in my nind for many years.

Keep the tradition going, Scouts.

Dr Stu...

I regret that it has been almost a year. For some reason I was not able to sign on to this site and "gave up". Here is an important lesson for all: "It is always too soon to give up"!
---------------

The Pittsburgh Gang Show was held near The University of Pittsburgh in the Schenley High School Auditorium. This would have been a central site and the school itself was quite large even by contemporary standards.

I am not sure how Troop 243 was selected among many others. I know that we visited Mr. Bob Harper who had a relationship with Ralph Reeder. There were winter meetings in Bob's living room that lead to visits to Chicago and Toronto Shows before we performed The Pittsburgh Show.
--------------------

Ralph was there for our rehersals...but I seem to recall that he did not actually attend the show. I may well be wrong. His son, Robert Corps-Reeder took an active interest...but there was nothing like watching Mr. Reeder stage and direct the event. It was very special...he showed us stage moves and face expressions! Nice stuff.

--------------

Do we not all wish that in the 1950s we had digital cameras and the like! I do not recall any pictures from the actual show or its production.

Kind regards to all...regrets for the time-between postings. Ed Forrest, Marietta, GA. USA edwforrest@gmail.com
