My names Erin, I'm also from Cumberland Gang Show in Sydney, Australia. This is my first year in a Gang Show, and I love it! I'm a Guide and have been for about 5 years... I love to perform and that's probably what got me into Gang Show. I think its great to hear about other Gang show's in the world.

Hi,

My name is Matt and I was involved in both Peterborough Shows for about 6 years. However I moved to Sheffield in 2002 to study at University and found there was no Gang Show here.

Recently though, due to a change in leadership, our DC is still hoping to get a Show started here and as I was always pestering him he said that if I want a Show I'll need to get it going. I guess that makes me the provisional director / producer...
I've posted (read: pleaded) in the Help thread for some help to get me started, but as this is a Hello thread I'll stop there.

Matt

Have you tried an Awards for All grant? Gang Show and Scouting in general covers most of this. Ask the District Council for the form. The Citizens Advice Bureau may be able to help as well.

Do you have a tuck shop at rehearsals? If you do get the members to donate their tuck shop money to the cause and go on a tuck fast for the whole of your rehearsal time (you'd be surprised how quickly that could mount up!)

Get yourselves in the local press and explain what you have here, now, and tell the public that you may not be able to put on the show and ask for donations (OK not quite that straight forward as you will need a central point for collection.)

Put on previous shows or small parts in the Scout HQ and charge people to come (minimum cost) Move around the District so people know what you are about. Contact local radio stations and tell them why not send them a Demo tape! ditto local TV.)

How about a sponsored Hut Clean? Hand Car wash on a Saturday Morning? Raffle?

Ok that has just exhausted my ideas. Good Luck

Kaye
