:P Friends and a great set of memories. If like me, you are a teenager (that's in heart now! but not when I was involved) Enjoy every minute of it. I find myself remembering the things I did with the Gang and in particular the Dance Team with a lot of affection, it was hard work but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Nikki Gunton was part of that team and we were together for quite a while I believe it was about 4 years and we gelled.

It was the best time of my life although I hadn't realised it until recently.

The first sentence sounds like a list for Finale songs!!

Kaye

It is surprising just how much of Gangshow you take into later life.

I find it an ice breaker and rather amusing sometimes. I have had to talk to a software suppliers helpdesk for around 20+ years (yes I am THAT old) and when I get busy on our GS site or rehearsals blah blah i sometimes have to cut them short because I need to get home. Several times I have ended up having long phone calls talking about Scouting, Gang Show memories, camping stories etc.

Its very true what you say Russ. You do take alot of Scouting not just Gang Shows into later life. I'm :?: years old and I'm still enjoying both. My knees may not be :?

Kaye, i must have been in the show at the same time as you! I remember Nikki Gunton too and remember having a lot of admiration for the dance team (i was only 9!!)
Nice to hear from someone who was in those older shows!

I think the best thing about Gang Show is making new friendships, that will often last a lifetime. Okay, I'm not THAT old, but still. I find that rehearsal camps are the best, because they bring everyone closer, like one big Gang Show family!

If you were only 9 at the time you probably will remember my brother (Stuart Brett) better, as he joined the Show long before I got there!!

My daughter Hazel is now in the show, and my youngest one is now making noises about auditioning this summer, because I still live fairly locally it is relatively easy for us to be involved if remotely. I am actually outside of district as we are Wokingham but only next door! Up until September 2007 if you remember John Hook, he was our District Commissioner.

At the time as I was 16 I probably didn't have a lot to do with the younger members of the cast apart from those I ended up being 'taxi' to. (Diane and Clare Betterton, and of course my brother!)

Russ is quite right 'Scouting is a disease, and Gang Show is addictive! but in the nicest sense. For my sins I am now getting back involved with Cubs to support my youngest daughter, my other half is trying to get all his activity tickets back up to date, and now has even filled in a Warrant application for Explorers (silly boy!). Seriously though we all love it, and I think a lot of the kids get a load of bad press. 150 of them behaving themselves...ish! in a theatre and putting on a good show for the paying public...........I don't see any ASBO's there.

What do they mean there is nothing to do? What they actually mean is there is nothing they will even try having a go at.

Anyway I digress, Gang Show gave me the confidence to be silly in front of people, and many people who have met me since and knew me before say that I am not what they expect. I used to be so painfully shy and worried about what others would think, not so now. Gang Show actually did me the power of good, although I didn't realise it at the time.

Good to know there are others out there from my era (Russ excepted!)

On a "sort-of-personal note", when I was born, my father was one of the Assistant Producers of the Cumberland Gang Show in Sydney. You could say I was practically born into the Gang Show family.

That's what I always see a Gang Show as - one big family.

I am always happy to be involved in the Walthamstow Show, we have just completed our 37th show. For me it is the ability to look both forward to the future of the next production, and to review the shows development through 38 years. I have seen youngsters who started in the cast now involved in the production. The committment is there to be seen, as well as introducing leaders and advisers into scouting through the show.

I also had the privelige to be invited to join the London Show. Friendships made there I am still in touch with. However, with the good times comes the moments of losing friends made through these times.

You know, :) these are the times, and we can dream about them. :)
